Santorini was one of the best trips of my life. I don’t doubt that Santorini is the most romantic place in the world.

There was a nice arrangement from our Country, but we were not able to travel on those dates, so I decided to organize it. I can say that we had better organization and found cheaper and better hotels. Certainly we have a plane flying from Dubrovnik to Athena; then we catch the bus from Athena to Rafina. In Rafina, we spent the night and in the morning we caught the first hydrofoil boat.

Santorini has everything you could imagine; romantic cliffs with a stunning view of the surrounding islands, beautiful hotels, beautiful people, gift shops, great food, perfect beaches – Santorini has it all. It is not surprising that a lot of people from all around the world come just here to get married.

We took speed boat; hydrofoils that in dawn drive us from Rafina port where we slept in excellent hotel Avra(4 stars ) which is just 200m far from the port. On the way to the hydrofoil, we passed a local fish market! This is what I love in Greece! Fresh fish, available at very reasonable prices!

It took about 7 hours with hydrofoils Blue Star, and it is not very comfortable drive, but it’s worth it! At the port Athinios, there is a taxi station, where the cabs are waiting after the ferry arrival, and this was the fastest way to catch our hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel, we asked for the transfer and how to use public buses. They run regularly every half hour, so from every bus station, you can catch it. Our hotel was Gizis Hotel at Imerovigli with amazing Caldera view… It has a breathtaking view of the caldera, and it’s looking the historical volcano creates. This hotel has amazing endless pool and Jacuzzi. We had a superior suit with comfortable space, with a view, it is so romantic!

Owners of Gizis hotel at Imerovigli are husband and wife; very welcoming and willing to answer any questions. They arranged our car rental that came after us and that day we toured the whole island, especially the beaches.

So Thira (Fira) is the capital of Santorini, Greece, and the most important of all villages.

Thira is located on the west side of the island and 10 km away from the main port Athinios. How to reach Fira town? You can do it on foot; I mean descending 600 steps, donkey or mule, or cable car (funicular). It is the biggest and most noisy town on the island, has many terraces to enjoy the superb views from the cliffs. Many shops and restaurants as well, but not the most beautiful. For me, Imerovigli, Firostefani, and Oia have the nicest views, sunsets, and they are even more magical. From the Fira, you can walk to get to Firostefani and Imerovigli.

You will find many souvenir shops. I will never forget the best dinner ever with the sunset view in Fira, risotto with octopus and seafood! Name of the restaurant is “Da Costa”, the owner was Albanian, very kind man! Table to us was sitting just married the couple. You melt of romance. If you want to fascinate your better half or strengthen your relationship, then Santorini is placed where to go.
Oia is a small town and the place that supposed to have one with the best sunset of the world.

Oia is more magnificent and romantic place than a Fira. View from the cliff falls steeply to the narrow streets between which alternates this beautiful white, blue architecture mixed with pools and jacuzzis of hotels, views of the restaurant’s terraces and people who enjoy sunbathing.
For sightseeing the other side of the island, we rent a car and enjoyed. Buses are relatively easy to catch from the Fira to Oia, but to see places and stunning beaches, as well as the ancient site, is wort to rent a car.
